Identify the Issue (should be list of questions or a list of symptoms to ask about)
1. Is the software getting a reading?
2. Is there a lag in the reading?
Recommended Solutions
If there is no reading in the structure tester software, or there is a lag in the reading in the software, the software will need to be reset and set up correctly. To do so, you will first have to identify that the structure tester is connected to your computer.
In order to check this, make sure that the USB cable is connected to the structure tester. Then, on your computer, go to the Windows button and click it. It will give you an option to search for programs. In the search bar type “device manager”.
This icon should appear: . Click to open the device manager.
With the device manager open, find the Ports (COM & LPT) section:
Next, plug in your USB cable to the computer and notice which port appears. Take note of the Com # as it will have to be the same inside of the structure tester software.
The next step will be to open the structure tester software, if not already open.
With the software open, you will need to click Reset Chart and move the slider bar to 0.
With the software reset, you will run through four more steps:
- Move the slider bar to 0.
- Set the port to the correct COM # from earlier.
- Initialize Port.
- Start Chart.
After performing these steps, the software should operate as expected.
Note: The data light will not be lit up when the program is running.
