My solar car isn’t moving or moves slowly.

 

Answer

If your solar car doesn’t seem to be working appropriately when you attempt to drive it, be sure to check the following:

 

1. Depending on transit/how long the solar panel has sat in the box, we recommend allowing the panel to absorb 6-8 hours of full sun, without obstruction of shaded areas or clouds. This should allow for a full recharge of the panel.

• It is not recommended to charge the panel through glass, such as a window.
• It is not recommended to charge the panel on cloudy days. The panel will need full sun, without obstruction.
• Be sure to note if the area your vehicle is charging becomes shaded; move the panel into a sunny space as needed.

 

2. Confirm the leads have a good and secure connection to the motor pins. The best connection comes when the teeth of the alligator clips are positioned so they are contacting the flat/wide sides of the motor pins, not the thin edges of the motor pins (see photos).
